I had the GREAT pleasure of photographing this beautiful family of 3 for the THIRD time! I absolutely love my faithful clients, and its always such a great thing for me to watch their children grow from year to year. I first started with this family when one year old Harrison was in his momma's belly, and then shortly after the little man's birth...and now he's already ONE, and as cute and sweet as ever. It took some work to get the smiles out of him, mostly because he was so enthralled by the big cars and transporters driving by on the highway next to where we had our photo shoot. I LOVE the location we chose - the old house on the side of Hwy. 17, and the Dean Lake Bridge. Can't get enough of those places! This shoot kicked off my 2012 season - it'll be a bit more of a speratic with the baby coming and all, but I'm excited about the shoots I do have lined up so far for the year!

Its been way over a year since I last did a giveaway to my fans, and I must say that is WAY overdue! I am so overwhelmingly blessed to have such wonderful people who are clients, follow my blog and Facebook page, and just for being the encouraging people you are! I can't believe I am only two shoots away from being done with my 2011 season! I have to admit, it feels kind of good...because I have had such a WONDERFUL year of meeting people, and believe I've only grown stronger as photographer in my confidence and skills!I enjoyed meeting this family at one of my all time favorite locations in Blind River the old mill grounds. Its already been two years since I last photographed this family, and their daughter was as sweet, and smiley as EVER! She was truly a sweetheart! We even got some shots with Grandma and Grandpa in there, too. You can definitely tell that Addi has a real bond with her Grandparents. I think that is just so cool! The rain clouds followed me the entire way from Blind River to North of Iron Bridge for this session! I was getting a little worried, to say the least. We started the first part of our session under their covered deck on their beautiful home. After awhile we braved some rain drops to get some nature shots. Thankfully we got a break in the clouds and it gave us enough time to explore their beautiful property a little more. I really enjoyed getting to know this family of three, and I got some great shots even though the weather was a little if-y at first!

I met this extended family out at their BEAUTIFUL cabin in Bruce Mines. I got the full tour, and let me tell you, there is a lot of love put into that property....30 years worth! We started out with the littlest of the crew, and then went on to doing some 5 generational pictures! I couldn't believe how well great-great Grandma got around those jagged rocks out on the property. I say it all too often, but I mean it...I love new places to discover, and meet new people! This little man is such a delight - so easy going, laid back, and bit shy...but once we got rolling with this session (aka getting his "wheels" out), he was all smiles! Boys will be boys, they say...and you can tell Mason loved his bikes! Its been over a year now since I've last photographed Mason. I finally was able to meet up with this couple after our one super rainy/windy weekend in October! I think we rescheduled (almost) three times in order to get this shoot in before baby G is born! I met them in Thessalon, which was fun for me to scope out a different area. I found some old buildings and stairways, and of course a great grassy field. We couldn't have asked for a better afternoon - especially after the torrential rain falls we were getting just a day or two before this! Maternity shoots are always so fun! They had all their kids home for Thanksgiving this weekend, so we snuck in a last minute photo shoot. The colors were just spectacular along the Mississaugi River, and the salmon were just JUMPING like crazy when we were there, too! This is the second time I've had the privilege of taking this lovely family's portraits! They were one of my first ever clients when I started my business now just over 2 years ago. I always feel so honored when clients keep coming back to me for their family pictures - it definitely boosts a photographers confidence! We started out just East of Blind River at an old barn. I didn't realize how grown up the weeds had become over the Summer/Fall months, so it was a little harder to get to than I thought. But the evening sun was just glorious! Its amazing how when the sun starts to go down, the color of the grass and leaves begin to change. I love it! We then ventured back into Blind River where we hung out at the old mill for awhile. I finally got part one of Ashley and Martin's wedding sneak peek on the blog! This wedding took place in Sudbury (my second wedding in Sudbury this year). The day wasn't looking too good on my drive from Blind River to Sudbury that morning, but as I got closer to where the wedding was taking place, it started to clear up, and the day ended up being absolutely gorgeous! This was my first French Catholic wedding, and although I couldn't understand the majority of what was taking place, I knew it was a beautiful service, and at the end of it Ashley and Martin were married! Caitlin and RJ are a phenomenal couple to work with! I have now enjoyed photographing them TWICE, and look forward to their wedding next September at Laurentian Lodge! We met up in Massey at the Chutes Provincial Park - absolutely wonderful location. If anyone is from Massey, and wants a great photo location...I'll be there! We had a gorgeous (HOT!) Krista and Gerry are seriously the most incredible couple. There love for one another oozes out of them, you can't help but notice! Krista was a stunning, and such an easy going, laid back bride...you could tell she just wanted to marry the man of her dreams - nothing else mattered. The same went for Gerry. He was so calm and just had fun...but when he saw his bride walking down the aisle, you could tell right away he could hardly wait to get his hands on her! I had such a wonderful time at your wedding, and getting to know you, Gerry and Krista. I wish you only the best in your life together! I met this lovely family up North of Iron Bridge on a beautiful, warm, sunny Fall evening. It was a beautiful location at Bell's Falls - we enjoyed exploring the surroundings. I love that area of the country...rolling hills, farm land, and lots and lots of nature! The Dosman's were a very fun, energetic family. I really enjoyed getting to know them! The future of Expressions by Erica

As many of you know now...we're expecting! We're thrilled to welcome a new little member into our family, and I'm slightly overwhelmed at the thought of three children running around this place. All in all...I feel blessed. I'm due the beginning of April, and already in my second trimester. I'm amazed at how quickly this pregnancy is going. I'm already a third of the way done!

What is going to happen to my photography? Well, I'm not going to stop. I plan to continue to move forward with my business, and look forward to my 2012 sessions. However, I will take a bit of a break. April and May have always seemed to be slower months, and then things pick up come time school is out. I plan to resume my business July 1st, 2012, but will be taking very limited sessions, and no weddings at that time. I most likely won't be booking any weddings that are planned before September 1st, 2012. As I'm sure you all can understand!

Like I said...I don't plan to quit, only slow down. I am booked through November of this year, and I'm already taking bookings for the New Year. I plan to work during the months of January and February, and then take my leave until July. I probably won't start those bookings until after the baby comes...

I also just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has booked me to do their photos in 2011! This has been my most successful year thus far, and I couldn't say that if it wasn't for YOU! I've enjoyed getting to know so many of you, and its wonderful that SO many of my clients have taken advantage of ordering prints through me...its a huge honor to have my work displayed in your homes! Also, a shout out to all of you that leave comments on my Facebook fan page - you truly are an encouragement to me. Thanks so much again, everyone. I love you all!

I enjoyed trekking through the woods with this family of three. It was a windy afternoon so I tried my best to keep the baby out of the wind. It was a bright, sunny day - and the light danced beautifully through the trees in the woods! Tristan just turned one year old, and what a little sweetheart he was. He had many facial expressions that I captured easily on camera. Getting a smile out of him was a little more work than I thought (you all should see me try to get smiles of kids...its quite the show!), but once he did smile...watch out...it was a killer! When I woke up in Sudbury on this wedding morn, I was a little nervous when I looked up in the sky...it looked like it could open up at any moment. BUT we definitely lucked out, and got beautiful, mild weather on Richard and Julie's wedding day. This couple was so laid back, and easy to work with. I could tell they were enjoying every moment of their day! Because we did the photos before the ceremony, they got to mingle with their guests longer, which I think they were thankful for! This was my FIRST wedding in Sudbury, and I really enjoyed it. The couple got married at Holiday Inn - and it was really beautiful. After they were pronounced husband and wife...the couple and their wedding party went up for a private celebration which consisted of cracking open a bottle of bubbly!! I finally get to post pictures of Tammy and Salim on their wedding day! They had a gorgeous August afternoon wedding. It was...well...slightly warm, but no one seemed to mind. The day started out at the beautiful Delta Hotel where Tammy got ready in the Presidential Suite. BEAUTIFUL view of the Soo Locks. Their wedding ceremony and reception was seriously at one of the most fun venues I've ever been to - the Bushplane Museum! It totally rocked! They had their ceremony out on the hanger...and the reception inside the museum. We took some great photos at the Soo locks, but because of the nature of Salim's job, I can't post those pictures. But trust me....they turned out incredible! Tammy and Salim came in on a helicopter for their reception as a surprise to everyone - parents and all! Super cool! Thanks for letting me be part of your special day, Tammy and Salim. It was so perfect, and I seriously loved every minute of it! Congratulations, and I hope Cuba was just awesome for you!

Sarah and Nathan pledged their love for one another in marriage at the beautiful Laurentian Lodge just North of Elliot Lake. Its an absolute spectacular location, and a photographers dream place. There is no lack of beauty around those parts! Sarah and Nathan had a gorgeous day - lots of sun, and a slight breeze to keep the heat away. They had an intimate gathering of just around 60 friends and family. Both bride, groom and wedding party were a stunning group! They all had fun, happy personalities! Nathan and Sarah come from Sault Ste Marie, and its really amazing how word has spread even to the city of Sault Ste Marie about my business. I fit in this last minute session right before I leave on holidays, and I'm so happy I did. I love getting outside for sessions this time of year! The green is just so bright, and there is no lack of color or life outside at the peak of Spring! Baby Brody is already 1 month old! He is such a good baby, and although he wasn't too impressed with soloing it in front of the camera, he was so happy outside in his mommy and daddy's arms! I'm so glad I could do these pictures for them! Enjoy! :)

They recently added a brand new baby to their family just over 3 weeks ago. Baby Lionel came into this world 3 weeks early, and he sure is a precious bundle - I can't believe how SMALL they come! I have to say that baby Chloe was one of the easiest babies I've ever photographed at this age. She was so laid back, happy, and did I mention how ADORABLE she is?! We started off outside in their backyard with Chloe in her pretty party dress - I just LOVE frilly dresses! We were blessed to have a beautiful, sunshiny Saturday morning. I'm loving this Spring weather (finally!). We ended our session inside with "smash the cake" fun. It was Chloe's first taste of sugar, and it was all captured on camera! This photo shoot was FUN! The location rocked, the kid's outfits were so vintage chic, and the weather was just perfect! I ventured out to the country just North of Iron Bridge to a beautiful location - the Verhey's farm was a photographer's dream. Rugged barn, old fencing, and even a quiet highway. Courtney is one of my very good friends, and her kids are just DOLLS (and so photogenic!). I'm so happy I could take their photos - truly was a blast!

FINALLY I'm doing outdoor sessions again! It feel so good to go on that hunt for a great location an take my client's photos outside. Although, Spring is slow to show up here in Blind River, I feel confident that we're going to only see it go up from here...the temperature that is. :) I enjoyed shooting this very beautiful family at one of my favorite locations -- the old mill here in Blind River. I had so much fun doing this family photo shoot! And what made it even better was their awesome creative ideas. FYI, I am ALL for client creativity. In fact...I LOVE client creativity. Back to the Clermont's...they were great. They had two beautiful granddaughters, and they had a blast decorating an Easter bunny cake and cookies. How cute is that?! And Grandma even made the little girls aprons and chef hats - helloooo cuteness! Between Tammy and her mom, their creativeness made for a fabulous indoor photo shoot. This family is so beautiful! I did this family's last photo shoot in the beautiful Fall, and little Harrison was tucked snuggly inside Sue. This time we featured a younger girl, too. She was our little Amelia Earhart. :) It was so much fun to get some mother/daughter shots in there, too. They were also helping out with being Tammy Roque's bridal models for her Bridal Package ad for the paper and her Facebook page. I LOVE working with all these beautiful women! I'm a photographer who can find my inspiration and also learn a lot from fellow photographers. Of course thats not the only place I find my inspiration...but I do follow some photographers via Facebook quite religiously, and it seems that a lot of them tend to "specialize" in one area. They're GREAT at every area of photography - may it be weddings, families, couples or babies...but I tend to see some that are more sought after for more definite areas than others. I have to say I love the variety of sessions I get in a year - weddings are SO fun, and each family shoot brings a different dynamic to the camera...I love that! But one area I'd LOVE to get more involved in, and really try and master at is the baby department. I've had two newborns myself, and those first 2-4 weeks go by in a flash (pardon the pun!), and to me that's one of the most precious times to make sure and capture on camera. Because honestly, although they may be the hardest weeks, they are the ones you tend to forget more easily, and also forget to take any/many pictures. I've been there! I'd love to invest more time into studying the art of photographing newborn babies. Its an art. And its definitely a passion of mine! I'm really going to make it a goal of mine to learn how to better photograph babies...

When my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday from our girls (which is tomorrow on the 13th), I told him I would REALLY love some pictures of me with them. He was happy to be behind the camera on this one, and even wants a couple of these in frames for his office! I love my little girls SO much. I had a blast with this couple! Despite our photo session being on the coldest day of the Winter (a whopping -30 C!)...it'll be a day that they'll remember, that's for sure. We made it out to beautiful Granary Lake where we ventured onto the ice in knee deep snow, found bright red buildings, and the mountains and cliffs in the background were gorgeous! I love where I live. There is a never ending discovery of beautiful scenery. They brought along their sweet baby...which is their beloved dog, Cooter! He made it into some of the photos, but it was just so darn cold for his little feet that he didn't venture out very often. Enjoy your sneak peek, Vanessa and Ryan! OH! I was so happy that the weather decided to behave its self so I could make it out to this family's beautiful property in Bruce Mines! I love discovering new place, and this farm was absolutely charming. I loved the indoor interior with the log cabin feel. And outside stood a couple of very quaint structures - one being my favorite...the barn! They couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather, and the trees were white from the night before snow fall. 3 month old Charlotte stayed indoors sleeping while the rest of the family ventured out! We lucked out yet again on wonderful weather for this couple's photos! It was right after a big snowfall, and just before we lost all our snow due to rainfall. I love doing late fall, early winter shoots in this area! There are so many beautiful spots...even this time of year. We had a blast trekking through the woods together, and watching Maya go hyper with all the scents of being outdoors! Caitlin and RJ were awesome to work with! The last time I photographed this beautiful family was back in May when their daughter, Elise, was just 4 days old! I got a taste of what my life with girls will be like when mine are teenagers during this photo shoot...and I think I'm going to love it (okay...love may be a strong word in that case!), but it was great to see these sisters get along so well, and also their mom and dad's strong connection with one another, too! Family is such a great thing! We lucked out and had a beautiful November morning, albeit a tad chilly, the wind never did pick up! I love this family! Tammy is one of my newest and dearest friends. Okay, here is my 2010 Holiday card promotion that I have been SO excited to share with all of you! I've tried to make this deal as affordable as possible.

Photo cards come in numbers of 25 including envelopes, all sizes are in 4x6 form - $50

For every 25 cards after the first 25 - $35

These are one of a kind, designed specially by 'yours truly'. So here are three very easy steps towards ordering your custom made photo cards:

1. *Choose the card you would like. You can have up to two pictures on the card, however, some may look/appear better with one larger photo. If you have been a client of mine in the past, and want to use a photo which I have taken for you; email me the number under that photo. If you haven't been a client of mine, and still want a photo card - please email me your picture(s) that you would like placed in the card! Easy as that! I will email you a preview of your photo card before ordering for proofing.

2. Choose the wording you would like on your card. For example, "Merry Christmas", "Season's Greetings", "Happy Holidays". (cards 1 and 6 have irreplaceable wording already on them) Also, give me the names you would like on the card.

3. And lastly, give me the number of cards you would like ordered, and your home address! Seriously, ITS THAT EASY! You will have your cards either mailed directly to your home, or delivered to you by me!

Place your orders on or before December 3rd to insure that your Holiday cards will get out before Christmas!

These kids are SO adorable! I had the great joy of capturing baby Lochlyn's first photos - being he was just 2 1/2 weeks at the time these were taken! And what a beautiful baby boy he is...one of the most gorgeous babies I've ever seen. And his big sister was a very proud one. She sure has personality, and I think you can see it oozing out of these pictures, too. This was a last minute shoot, since daddy was heading back over seas the very next day. I'm happy I could do this for them. ENJOY!

I was just at the mall in Sudbury the other day, and some stores are already promoting Christmas/Holiday sales, as well as getting their decorations out. CRAZY! All I can say is that I've got a ton of work to do before I'm on Christmas holidays! ;)

Princess Kali

...and what a precious peanut she is! Kali was born over a month early. I had scheduled this shoot with Kali's mommy for the middle of November (when Kali was supposed to be born), but she came into this world - all 5 lbs of her - a month early, and so we pushed up the photo shoot date, too. :) And what an amazing baby this little ones was. She slept almost through her entire debut shoot! I love this stage to take photos. The first week or two are PRIME for newbie shoots (just so all you pregos out there no that. Hehe!). Adam and Chrissy had a BEAUTIFUL wedding day. The weather was absolutely perfect, the fall leaves were in their peak season, and the couple were absolutely stunning and relaxed! They had an outdoor ceremony at the bride's parent's cottage. They had only around 50 guests (which were mostly family) - so it had that wonderful laid back feel to it. The bride had her mom as her maid of honor, because she said, "she's my best friend!" - I thought that was SO cool!!! This was a very fun wedding party! And I love the colors of blue and orange that they were all wearing. Jamie restored an old truck with his dad, and their next door neighbors also let them borrow their vintage car...they both made for a great prop in Jamie and Melanie's backyard! You'll see from the pictures that Mel is a very funny, adventurous girl...going in for a kiss with a frog isn't for the faint of STOMACHS. :) She said while I was snapping away with her and the frog, "Bet you've never had a bride do THAT before!" Mel and Jamie had a beautiful ceremony in the Water Tower Inn in Sault Ste Marie. Their color theme of blue and orange went right along with the hotel's decor, and screamed AUTUMN! Something really neat and very original that Mel and Jamie did was they had all of their family and attendants make her bouquet. Each person had a flower/piece of the bouquet, and written on a piece of paper hanging from each flower was a character trait that builds a strong marriage. And then Melanie and Jamie tied the bouquet together with ribbon. SO COOL!

Mel is very near and dear to my heart! I began my friendship with Mel almost 2 years ago when she was my Doula during my second daughter's pregnancy. She was an amazing help to me during my labor and delivery my second time around - I don't think I could've done it as well without her!!! I really enjoyed this indoor session. Its very rare that I ever have a session indoors - so this was a fun and different pace for me. It was a bit too chilly and windy for little Mason's 3 month old ears. We even ended our session with taking some pictures of Mason in his bubble bath! I really enjoyed visiting with his parents and getting to know them as well - I know I say it time and time again...but I LOVE the part of my sessions where I get to gab with my clients. We almost didn't get this photo shoot in last Saturday due to a torrential rain fall during the slot we had booked for the shoot! But thankfully we were able to reschedule for later that day - and it ended up being a BEAUTIFUL afternoon (very humid, however). We enjoyed most of the shoot in the Rousselle's big, beautiful backyard - they've got lots of trees, rocks, a lovely deck that made a wonderful backdrop. We then ventured off to a nearby park where Dylan could run around and play. He was a perfect 20 month old! Here are Matt and Kayla's portrait sneak peek (last of the sneak peeks for this wedding)- we had a very lovely day weather wise. It started out cloudy, and we weren't sure what the clouds would decide - to blow clear or dump on us! It was perfect -- not too sunny, not too hot...just perfect. A photographer's dream day to shoot! I'm getting these up fast because I have another wedding this weekend, so I'm trying not to overwhelm myself in the weeks ahead. We ventured off to several different locations after Matt and Kayla's ceremony. The wedding party was a blast to work with, and willing to go and do pretty much anything I asked! I've enjoyed working on this wedding very much. Thanks again, Matt and Kayla, and I look forward to staying in touch with you both! Next Summer I'll be shooting the maid of honor's wedding in Sault Ste Marie -- I LOVE weddings! :)

Matt and Kayla's wedding was my FIRST EVER booked wedding! I have been in contact with them since way back in October! I've had such a wonderful time getting to know this really amazing couple. As you know (from their engagement post below) that Matt is from England and Kayla is a Blind River girl....they have a very amazing story of how they met and came together. Their wedding was beautiful - absolutely stunning! The blue colors were so fun and bright...and Kayla's dress was so perfect. I especially LOVED her blue shoes!!! I love that I totally got to know their small wedding party - a very fun group. Kayla and Matt are so perfect for each other - they're incredibly in love, and I know they'll have the rest of their lives to continue to love and enjoy one another...here is one of their sneak peeks. Whoever said that photography ISN'T art? I take photography seriously while I'm shooting. There is a lot that has to take place in the camera before the processing comes into play...however, its at the editing stage where I really like add my personal touches. And those "touches" definitely take time. Take a look at the comparison of the SOOTC (straight out of the camera) photo, and the edited version. I LOVE making my clients photos pop, and make them look unique.

This family is very near and dear to my heart! I grew up getting to know the Ristad's and their beautiful children when I lived in Minnesota. Jenny and Eric are a wonderful couple, and they have raised such fun, good looking, sweet kids. I thoroughly enjoyed taking photos of these wonderful people and their kids! What a fun group! I've known Sarah and Chris pretty much since we've moved to Blind River, because their parent's attend our church...so whenever they come up to visit we like to get her boys and my girls together to play! They've become good friends of ours over the last couple years. :) This last visit they invited their wonderful friends from Scotland - and it was very enjoyable getting to know them and their children, Katherine and Joseph. We had beautiful, sunny, hot weather for this photo shoot, and at times it was tough to find spots where the kids weren't squinting in the sun. But we managed, and got some amazing shots in the process! I had fun, guys! Thanks and ENJOY! :)

Baby Elise - 4 days old

I had the great privilege of taking photos of a very beautiful, and very new baby girl this afternoon...yes...you heard that right, I took these this afternoon! I worked very hard to get this sneak peek up in a matter of a couple hours, mostly because Elise's daddy heads over seas for a few weeks to work, and I know he would love to see the pictures before he leaves tomorrow! This little doll was absolutely amazing to photograph - just perfect. She slept through the entire event. Mommy Isabel looked so amazing, and incredibly relaxed, and SO happy to have her baby girl! And there was a look in Will's eyes that I could very much recognize when he looked at his baby girl...the same look I see in my husband's eyes with our girls - pride, a sense of protection, and overwhelming love! I enjoyed a beautiful, summery morning at the beach with this lovely family! They were so great! Alexander sure was a sweetheart - he was all boy (which, as most of you know, I'm not used to)! Baby Hailey - 6 weeks old

I have fallen in love with baby Hailey! She is such a sweetheart, and belongs to one of our very good friends, Rachel and Taylor. Hailey is 6 weeks old, going on 6 months! She is so advanced - so alert, holds her head up SO well, smiles and giggles. She's a joy to her parents, and was a joy to photograph. I even got a couple of those big mouthed smiles...so precious. Rachel is such a loving, relaxed first time momma. Her love for her daughter is SO evident in the way she looks at Hailey. I can't wait to watch Hailey grow up, and watch Rachel and Taylor on this very cool journey called parenthood! Enjoy this sneak peek, Rachel and Taylor!

Robin, Aaron and Allen

I was FINALLY able to meet this Mother and son trio this weekend after rescheduling our shoot...let's see...at least 3 times! You can definitely see the closeness and the connection between Robin and her two boys, Allen and Aaron. They're a fun, energetic family of three! We met at a beautiful location, on the shore of Lake Huron, with forest all around us. I'm really happy the rain held off, and the sun decided to grace us with it's presence...here are a few of my favorites from our session. Thanks, Robin, Aaron and Allen! Its so much fun to be a girl!

....dolls, hats, dress-up, tea parties, and playing house is all in the repertoire of being a girl! My sister and I had fun dressing up our girls and doing a mini shoot of them just being girls. They're wearing very special hats in these pictures as well - they came from the trunk of our late Grandma Alice...so they truly are a vintage touch to these pictures. I love using props when I'm doing a shoot - and these TOTALLY added to the meaning of these photos...

Kajsa & Greta {Spring Shoot}

The last time I photographed my nieces was in the fall of last year, and HERE last summer when I was just starting this photography business. I love photographing these two girls SO much - not only does the camera love them (and their beautiful momma), but they are all so near and dear to my heart. These were taken on my parent's farm in Minnesota. I'm here in Minnesota visiting for a couple weeks with my two daughters. Its been a nice reprieve for me, but as soon as I get back to Blind River I will be super busy with a couple shoots a months, AND one wedding a month to photograph starting from June-October! I'm excited!!! But for now...enjoy this sneak peek.
